Kaiz Boutique’s Lick Poverty in Style Charity Fashion Show was a truly fabulous affair and all for a very important cause - to raise funds to help ActionAid fight against the causes of global poverty. The most sought after charity night of the year was held at top London club Tantra and hosted by superlush model Jodie Marsh & smooth US presenter, Cory McGee. Guests were greeted with a mix of the beats of Xfm’s DJ Sarah Darling, delicious cocktails, sumptuous canapes and luxury chocolates, compliments of famous chocolatier, Paul Wayne Gregory.
The show opened in style with a fantastic performance from the soul boys of the moment - Kevin Mark Trail and X Factor’s 4Tune. Moving onto the fashion itself, the first collection was inspired by British soulstar Javine and featured a funky mix of elegant denim basques and feminine dresses which perfectly reflected her unique streetsexy style. Second on the catwalk was Asian fusion artist Raghav’s collection made up of funky street couture with Asian slants. Guests were then treated to a fabulous selection of outfits from all the designers of the show organiser, Kaiz Boutique.
The models supplied by Pulse Model Management looked absolutely stunning with glamorous hair & make up by Gina Conway and Cissors Palace and were complimented by the high fashion footwear supplied by Shellys London.
Next was SKY1’s drop dead gorgeous Dreamteam boys who came down especially to model the latest exquisite tailored suits & inventive designs in menswear by designers Anoosh & DJ. The footballers collection was completed with a risqué appearance by UK Playboy glamour model Louise Glover who wowed the crowd in just a shirt and funky red tie.
The grand finale of the fashion show was BB6 star Kemal’s collection which fused together his multi layered personality and stylistically diverse fashion sense. Providing the showstopping factor for the night, Kemal sauntered onto the catwalk with a powerful design expressing the political injustice in North Cyprus. The outfit was made up of a ragged edgy skirt to signify poverty, chains for the enslavement and topped off with a blue evil eye and red coloured shoes to represent the flag of the TRNC (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus). Kemal even had a male stripper in a red thong on a lead crawling down the catwalk to express the true suffering of the people in North Cyprus. This powerful and stunning collection was finished off with a spectacular belly dancing performance by Kemal whose talents could overshadow even the best female dancers.
The show was completed with two amazing performances by two of the featured artists - the beautiful Javine and her talented guitarist Ben Cullum serenaded the crowd with her newest song while Raghav really tore the house down and got the crowd jumping with legendary tracks “So confused” and “Angel Eyes”.
Guests then partied on down into the night with the likes of, Michelle Bass, Kinga, Derek, Juggy D, DJ Sassy, Philip Olivier (Brookside), Alex Lawler and Jeff Brazier. Watch out for the show on Channel 4 as the event was filmed for Big Brother – What Happened Next. That night we truly did Lick Poverty in Style!
